In 2015 Cooper Studios designed a venue for Shambala festival utilising a 20ft shipping container. After months of planning the crew, consisting of Cooper studios and our friends from Empty Shop, spent a week working 13 hour days in the rain to deliver NOMADIC.

The venue had three functions. Firstly we constructed a observation deck on the roof of the container with a double width staircase for access all structurally supported by a timber rib cage built hugging the container which descended 4ft under the ground. On this platform we provided 7 easels and ran a series of art lessons and drawing sessions overlooking the beauty of Shambala.

Secondly NOMADIC ran a small coffee shop providing cold brew coffee freshly made each day drawing in a small community of people to relax and get to know us and what the rest of our venues program was.

Last but not least Empty Shop curated amazing DJ nights inside the container from 10pm till the early hours of the morning. With brilliant lighting and an air of adventure and curiosity large crowds were drawn to NOMADIC all wanting to experience our parties inside a small shipping container. Check out the video below of the festival and build.
