This year a crew of 7 travelled to Shambala Festival 2016 to build the Obelisk. Designed by Cooper Studios, the Obelisk is an 8ft tall monolith with a contemporary geometric design sprayed on using our favourite shades of pastel Ironlak paint.

Within the Obelisk we housed a pair of 1000W speakers which played a series of ethereal and LO-FI SCIFI tracks composed and written by artist Sean Tomlin. These speakers were hooked up to Arduino boards and ultra sound sensors which detected the amount of people around the Obelisk and their proximity. Depending on these factors the Obelisk would add a track onto its ambient track therefore meaning the more people who were around the Obelisk and the closer they got the more complicated and louder the song it played became.

We like to coin it as a Reactive Venue.
